Road Accident Tableau Dashboard

Analyzing Road Accidents with an Interactive Dashboard for Enhanced Public Safety

Description:

In this blog post, I dive into the process of creating a comprehensive Road Accident Analysis Dashboard using Tableau. My objective was to turn raw data into an interactive tool that provides actionable insights on road safety trends and patterns. This dashboard focuses on critical metrics, such as total accidents, casualty severity, accident-prone locations, and the impact of weather and road surface conditions.

I began by understanding the dataset, which includes records of accidents across multiple regions, along with details about weather, road surface, and types of vehicles involved. After preprocessing and cleaning the data to ensure accuracy, I built a multi-layered dashboard that presents a detailed view of the factors influencing road safety.

Key sections of the dashboard include:

- **
Severity Analysis**: Breaks down accident severity into categories (fatal, serious, slight) and tracks year-over-year trends, enabling insights into how safety measures affect outcomes.

- **Location and Weather Analysis**: Maps accident hotspots and analyzes how different weather conditions correlate with accident frequency, helping to identify high-risk conditions.

- **Surface and Vehicle Type Analysis**: Examines road surface types and vehicle categories involved in accidents, offering insights into specific risk factors.

This analysis provides a foundation for authorities and policymakers to make data-driven decisions, aiming to reduce accident rates and improve road safety. Through this blog, I share my approach to transforming complex data into a user-friendly visualization, showcasing the power of analytics in tackling real-world safety challenges.
